The District is governed under the Local Government Act and reports to the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development. The Local Government Act gives local governments authority to deal with a full range of local issues including elections, taxations, services, regulations and planning. The District’s fees and charges are closely monitored by the Ministry and are levied by way of Bylaws.
There are five elected Trustees who represent the Glenmore-Ellison Improvement District. Each Trustee is a landowner in the District and upon appointment must commit a minimum of three years service to the District. The Trustees are elected officials who make water-related decisions on behalf of area landowners.
