About
Glenmore-Ellison Improvement District (GEID) is an independent Public Water Utility providing water to approximately 15,000 people (approximately 6400 service connections) in Kelowna, B.C and parts of the Regional District of Central Okanagan. The District has a serviceable area of just over 9000 acres.
GEID is one of five water supplierswithin the City of Kelowna and is a member of the Kelowna Joint Water Committee. The goal of the Kelowna Joint Water Committee is to develop cooperative water management strategies and to promote efficient water use. For a map of the area click here.
The District is governed under the Local Government Act and reports to the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development. The Local Government Act gives local governments authority to deal with a full range of local issues including elections, taxations, services, regulations and planning. The District’s fees and charges are closely monitored by the Ministry and are levied by way of Bylaws.
Trustees
There are five elected Trustees who represent the Glenmore-Ellison Improvement District. Each Trustee is a landowner in the District and upon appointment must commit a minimum of three years service to the District. The Trustees are elected officials who make water-related decisions on behalf of area landowners.
The Board of Trustees of the Glenmore-Ellison Improvement District have always taken in to consideration how their decisions affect the people of the District. If you have any concerns or comments, your Board is there working on your behalf. The current GEID Trustees are:

Board of Trustee Meetings are regularly scheduled for the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 1:00 pm. Special Meetings are scheduled when necessary. If you have and questions or concerns that you would like to address to the Trustees, please submit in writing to: GEID TRUSTEES, 445 Glenmore Rd, Kelowna, BC V1V 1Z6.
The District has 3 distinct servicing areas: Glenmore, Ellison & McKinley Landing
- Glenmore - from McKinley Road to and including the Kelowna Golf & Country Club and from theGlenmore Highlands to Hwy 97 including Quail Ridge, UBC Okanagan, the Kelowna Airport and the Kelowna Industrial Park. Water supply is from the Postill Lake chain and augmented by several wells;
- Ellison area - generally the area east of the Airport, from Spencer Rd at the north, to Anderson Rd at the south. Water supply is from the Postill Lake chain and augmented by a well in Ellison and at the airport;
- McKinley Landing - the former McKinley Landing WaterWorks System, which includes the general area of Bennett, Arthur, Dewdney and Shayler Rds. Water supply is from Okanagan Lake.
